Major League Try-Out & Draft Hand-Out

Dear Parents,

This hand-out is to explain how our Major League try-outs and draft process is done. If there are any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

We at ELL are here for the children and the children only.

·        We require all of our 9 to 12 year old applicants not on a Major League team to attend our try-outs.

·        We evaluate all the players on fielding, throwing, and hitting.

·        All 10, 11, and 12 year old applicants will be eligible for the Major League draft.

·        Any player ages 10 and 11 that doesn’t try-out or chooses to stay in the Minor League will not be able to return to the same team or coach from the previous season.

·        All 9yr. old applicants will have the option to be eligible for the Major League draft. Parents are asked if they would like their child to be eligible.

·        All players that are not drafted to the Majors will be drafted onto a Minor League team.

·        Minor League players may be brought up to the Major Leagues during the season, if that Major League team loses a player for the season.

·        New this season, All 12 year old applicants must be drafted to the Majors.

Exceptions are if a parent wants their 12yr. old child to stay in the minors a wavier form must be filled out and approved by the Local Board and the District Administrator.

·        If you have any questions during the draft please see Lou Poste (Player Agent), George Castiello (Major League Director), or Mike Vitukevich.

·        For more info on try-outs, our draft or any other rules please visit our web-site and click on our constitution or by-law links. A 2008 rule book is available upon request.

·        All decisions made by the Board of Directors are final.
