Dear ELL Community,

We sincerely hope that all of you are safe and well during these unprecedented times. Schools being cancelled while adapting to remote learning, non-essential business closings, cancellation of professional, amateur and youth sports, concerts with no audience, and on and on. The citizens of Everett have been resilient and remained fluid, especially our children. With the evolution of COVID-19, many modifications and restrictions have been put in place and baseball is no exception.

ELL has decided to cancel T-Ball and Farm divisions for this year. This decision was extremely difficult, but we feel it is in the best interest and safety of all players. Many parents expressed concerns for these age groups. We are looking forward to do something for these age groups in the fall or next spring.

ELL has also made the decision to allow minors and majors to play this season complimentary. Due to our sponsors and other factors, we are able to offer this season at no cost. We hope this can offset some costs of getting a helmet, bat or other equipment. You are more than welcome to donate your registration fee, but not necessary. If you cannot get your own helmet, please reach out to us and we will do our best to get you one.

Refunds have been requested, it will take 2-3 weeks for our vendor to process. Please be patient with as this will take some time.

We have been monitoring the pandemic and how it relates to Little League Baseball. There are many resources to educate yourself. I will start by stating that having a fun and safe little league season is everyone’s responsibility, the entire community. Parents and spectators need to understand that the safety of the children is priority and we will share what we are doing to help. Ultimately it is your responsibility to adhere to our modifications and practice safety guidelines in place by the CDC, ELL, and the City of Everett. When the fields are released, we will do our best to bring a fun and safe season but it is a shared responsibility.

Attached is a detailed Return to Diamond guideline we put together from Little League, protocols from the Baker-Polito administration, and the City of Everett. We understand that not all families will be participating this year, we will need to know as soon as possible.

Some highlights to mention:

  • All Coaches and volunteers are required to wear a facial covering. Players are not required to do so at time of play
  • Dugouts will be expanded to the bleachers and designated for players only. This area will be blocked off.
  • All players should have their own helmet, glove, and bat to ensure no sharing of equipment. Batting gloves are encouraged if sharing a league bat. Coach handling bat after the at bat will sanitize hands and/or bat before handling.
  • Balls coming in from foul territory should be retrieved by a player or coach, will be sanitized prior to play.
  • City of Everett will be providing us with sanitizer, however we encourage you have your own.
  • As of now, no concession sales so players should bring their own beverages and label containers.
  • Umpires will stand behind pitcher.
